Updates on the Novel Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19)
Briefing on the Novel Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) in China | 2 March, 2020
Between 00:00 and 24:00, 1 March, the following were newly reported by the 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps:
a) 202 confirmed cases;
b) 42 fatal cases;
c) 141 suspected cases;
d) 255 severe cases reduced;
e) 2,837 cases of patients cured and discharged from hospital; and
f) 8,154 cases of close contacts released from medical observation.
According to the National Health Commission, as of 24:00, 1 March, the following had been reported by the 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps:
a) 80,026 confirmed cases;
b) 32,652 confirmed cases under treatment (including 7,110 severe cases);
c) 44,462 cases of patients cured and discharged from hospital;
d) 2,912 fatal cases; and
e) 715 suspected cases.
To date, 663,240 close contacts have been traced. Among them, 46,219 are still under medical observation.
Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan have altogether reported 148 confirmed cases:
a) 98 in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (including 2 fatal cases, and 36 cases of patients cured and discharged from hospital);
b) 10 in the Macao SAR (including 8 cases of patients cured and discharged from hospital); and
c) 40 in the Taiwan region (including 1 fatal case, and 12 cases of patients cured and discharged from hospital).

Briefing on the Novel Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) in Chongqing | 2 March, 2020
Between 00:00-24:00, 1 March, 2020, the following were newly reported by Chongqing:
a) 0 confirmed case; and
b) 12 cases of patients cured and discharged from hospital.
? Of the newly reported cases of patients cured and discharged from hospital, 2 are in Wanzhou, 1 in Yuzhong, 1 in Jiangbei, 1 in Jiulongpo, 1 in Yubei, 1 in Hechuan, 1 in Qijiang, 1 in Dianjiang, 1 in Wuxi, 1 in Shizhu, and 1 in Liangjiang New Area.
As of 24:00, 1 March, the following had been reported by Chongqing:
a) 576 confirmed cases;
b) 120 confirmed cases under treatment (including 9 severe cases, and 2 critical cases);
c) 6 fatal cases; and
d) 450 cases of patients cured and discharged from hospital.
To date, 23,563 close contacts have been traced. Among them, 23,192 have been released from medical observation while 371 are still under observation.
