As the first municipal-level characteristic industrial park and high-tech zone in southeast Chongqing, Zhengyang Industrial Park is the key role for Qianjiang District’s strategy of being regional centre city of southeast Chongqing. It is the major carrier to build the Qianjiang Coordinated Innovation Zone (the 1st batch) of China (Chongqing) Pilot Free Trade Zone, and the frontier for the synergistic development of industries from Chengdu and Chongqing, central and southeastern China. Based on its geographical advantages, Zhengyang spares no effort to make itself the southeast Chongqing industrial center with strong industrial agglomeration. The park was established in July 2003 and was approved as a municipal-level high-tech zone in October 2021. The total number of science and technology-based enterprises and high-tech enterprises steadily ranks first in southeast Chongqing. Being a southeast Chongqing science and technology innovation centre is another mission of the Zhengyang industry park.
Zhengyang industry park has consolidated industrial foundation. In 2021, the park is expected to achieve a total industrial output value of RMB 6.04 billion, an increase of 31.5%; 26 projects will be signed, with an agreed amount 5.5 billion yuan. The glass fiber industry chain has formed a pattern of one leading company dominant in whole industrial chain, coordinated with and seven upstream, midstream and downstream enterprises, their output value could reach more than 3 billion yuan. Meanwhile, Zhengyang is enriching enterprises from both relevant upstream and downstream to form a new advantage in cluster development. Other noticeable achievement is the investment for digital industry. Hualu Qianjiang Data Lake Technology Park is progressing in an orderly manner, this project will bring 3 billion yuan investment.
To make full use of mountainous area tourism and ethnic culture in the Wuling Mountains, Zhengyang have launched the construction of a food and drug R&D centre, empowered the processing of special agricultural and sideline products and the cocoon and silk industry with cultural tourism and technological innovation, which is expected to strengthen special industrial cluster.
Zhengyang has prominent advantages in location and transportation. It is located in the eastern and southern part of the old city of Qianjiang, connected to the old city by Zhengyang, Zhoubai and Xinqian tunnels, with radiation road transportation. There are Wuling Mountain Airport, Qianjiang Railway Station, Zhengyang Bus Station. Qianjiang Customs and other regional central functional projects, and the layout of Zhengyang Modern Logistics Base further contributes to Zhengyang’s location importance. "The preliminary three-dimensional transportation system in the Wuling Mountains region is taking shape, its railway network gets connected to many important cities China, and its expressway network provides convenient come and forth between Chengdu and Chongqing. For air transportation, Wuling Mountain Airport renovation and expansion project has been basically completed.
Qianjiang District has many scenic spots and unique landscapes, with 8 national A-class scenic spots, the unique spectacle of "canyon city " and charm of ethnic customs makes other advantage, including famous folk songs and dances, and a wide range of folk specialties, handicrafts and special food products; it has one national historical and cultural town, geological park, forest park, wetland park, water conservancy scenic area, and a village with ethnic minority characteristics, intangible cultural heritage and 5 national traditional characteristic courtyards.
Zhengyang has strong infrastructural support. The park has a planned area of 38 square kilometres and is divided into two parts: the industrial zone and the new commercial and residential area. The industrial zone has a planned area of about 20 square kilometres, with a completed area of about 14 square kilometres; infrastructure construction has basically taken shape, with a cumulative investment of nearly RMB 10 billion in infrastructure construction in the industrial zone. With Chongqing Wujiang Power, one of the top 100 power generation companies in China, the price of energy consumption has been significantly reduced; the natural gas reserve peaking transmission and distribution centre in southeast Chongqing is located in Qianjiang, strengthening energy security. There are more than 10 high-quality commercial and residential complexes, 2 vocational colleges and 5 hospitals in the new city's commercial and residential areas meeting the demand for housing, education, medical and other services in the park.
