From ancient winding steps to stunning city panoramas, Chongqing’s distinctive hills and valleys offer hikers everchanging vistas. The Chongqing trail network aims to create a unique urban hiking experience that allows you to explore the city’s most iconic scenery. The network already features 17 urban trails covering 350km, and is still growing.
Ancient City Wall Trail (Daijiaxiang Section, Yuzhong District )
Taking you round Jiefangbei area, this route foolows a now demolished route of the old city wall. It takes in places near the Guotai Art Center and Hongya Cave.
Transportation
Take rail transit line 2 and get off at Linjiangmen Station, or take line 1 or line 6 and get off at Xiaoshizi Station; buses 105, 111, 114, 135, 151, 181, 262, 322, 401, 461, 465, 601, 651, 866, 881, and get off at Linjiangmen Station (to the main entrance of Daijiaxiang); take buses 480, 553, T002, T016, T025, T040, etc. T016, T025, T040 bus to Jiabin Road HongyaDong station (up to the entrance of Daijia Xiang cliff ).
Mid-level Clifftop Trail (Yuzhong District Main Line, Red Wall Section)
This clifftop trail runs between Yuzhong and Shapingba districts, and is based on the Mid-levels Hanging Corridor and Chongqing Memory route via the urban woodland park at Fotuguan.
Transportation
Take bus 139, 837, 418 and get off at the bus stop at Shiyou Lu Junction where Jingwei Avenue and Shiyou Lu intersect; take rail transit line 1 and get out of Shiyou Lu station, walk about 1 km to where Jingwei Avenue and Shiyou Lu intersect and go up the hill.
Huangge Ancient Road in Nanan District
Located in Nanshan, this 800-year-old road was once an important trade route between Sichuan and Guizhou. Walking the Huangge Ancient Road, you experience the old stone road, lush Huangge trees, and century-old houses.
Transportation
Take bus No. 364, 347, 321, 717, 363, 304, 354, 384, etc. from Jiefangbei, Liangjiao, Nanping and get off at Shangxinjie Station; take rail transit line 6 and get out from Exit No. 2 of Shangxinjie Station and walk for about 20 minutes to the entrance of Shangxinjie of Huangge ancient road.
