The "New Generation Electronic Information Manufacturing Industry Talent Development Conference" of the Chongqing International Talent Exchange Conference was held at Chongqing Science Hall on 16 November. On the same day, the European Academy of Sciences China Centre project was officially signed and launched in the Western (Chongqing) Science City Chongqing High-Tech Industrial Development Zone, accelerating China–Europe integration in fields such as biosensing, smart terminals and basic materials, while promoting talent exchange and technology transfer.

During the conference, Rodrigo Martins, President of the European Academy of Sciences, Academician of the European Academy of Sciences, and Academician of the Portuguese Academy of Engineering, was interviewed by Chongqing Currents.

China Has Formulated a Robust Roadmap for the Future

Martins believes that China's own experience shows that innovation is essential for ensuring people's well-being and quality of life—science is the foundation, and without science, there is no innovation. Innovation drives prosperity. China has established a strong roadmap for the future. With its concentration of high-tech industries, Chongqing is committed to bringing together talent and fostering exchange, contributing to prosperity in China and around the world.

Broad Prospects for China–Europe S&T Cooperation

Regarding the newly established European Academy of Sciences China Centre, Martins told Chongqing Currents: "Europe's profound scientific culture will support close cooperation between China and Europe, bringing greater benefits to both peoples. China's talent environment and innovation ecosystem are dynamic, offering broad prospects for collaboration in science, technology and talent. Establishing the Centre in Chongqing is only a starting point. We hope China and Europe can complement one another's strengths and build on shared industrial foundations to advance science and technology for the benefit of humanity."

Looking Forward to Greater Breakthroughs in Chongqing’s Electronic Information Industry

The development of next-generation microelectronics and electronic technologies remains a global challenge. The newly established European Academy of Sciences China Centre, in Professor Martins' view, builds on the achievements of silicon-based technologies and will enable Chinese and European scientists to jointly explore new pathways toward green and sustainable electronics, making green materials and green technologies the next breakthrough in the electronics field.

Martins stressed that settling in the Science City is just the beginning!
