Chongqing Certifies 585 Skilled Professionals from 49 Countries

From 8–9 May 2026, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security convened the 2026 National Symposium on Vocational Skills Development in Chongqing. Figures released at the meeting showed that Chongqing has provided internationally recognised certification services for 585 skilled professionals from 49 countries.

In January 2026, in response to growing demand for international skills development, the Chongqing International Skills Exchange Centre was officially established. The centre has since set up 27 International Skills Certification Service Stations across China and established long-term partnerships with organisations in Germany, Thailand, Laos and other countries. It has also launched the Belt and Road International Skills Cooperation Friendship Cities Initiative.

Chongqing has developed a distinctive "Language + Skills" training model, bringing together 225 international experts and 108 specialist courses. To date, it has delivered eight instructor-training programmes and trained 206 international instructors.

The municipality was also the first in China to release the Belt and Road International Skills Standards Development Guidelines and has jointly developed 30 international skills standards. Covering both locally distinctive occupations and internationally recognised professions, these standards are helping to create a cross-border skills development pathway that enables young professionals to compete internationally based on their expertise.

Looking ahead, Chongqing will continue to deepen international exchanges and cooperation, improve mechanisms for mutual recognition of standards, talent mobility and platform sharing, and further support the municipality's development as a leading talent hub in Western China.
