Chongqing's Trade with Africa Continues to Grow
On 1 May, China's zero-tariff policy was fully extended to all 53 African countries with which it has diplomatic relations. During the first month of implementation, the total value of imports by Chongqing enterprises from the newly covered zero-tariff African countries exceeded RMB 23 million.
Recent data points to strong momentum in Chongqing–Africa trade. In 2025, Chongqing's total imports from and exports to Africa reached RMB 35.39 billion, an increase of 38.7% year on year. In the first quarter of 2026, trade totalled RMB 9.54 billion, with growth accelerating to 40.2%, demonstrating the continued strong growth of Chongqing's trade with Africa.
