Giant panda “Xin Xing” is 37 years old

On August 23, Chongqing Zoo held the 37th birthday party for Xin Xing, the world's oldest surviving giant panda.

Xin Xing is a female giant panda. Born in 1982, she came from Baoxing County, Sichuan Province, and settled down in Chongqing Zoo in 1983. During the 1988 Winter Olympics, "Xin Xing" (then known as "Qiong Qiong") went to Calgary, Canada for exhibition, attracting millions of people. Her descendants are all over the world. By the end of 2018, there were 137 offspring living in more than 20 countries and regions around the world.

Xin Xing, 37-year-old, now weighs 98 kilograms and is in good health. Since she has grown into her old age, she sometimes suffers from high blood pressure and severe tooth loss. Every few days, Chongqing Zoo will conduct a comprehensive physical examination for her. The keepers will also guide her to exercise more. Considering the bad teeth of her, keepers will usually take the bamboo shoots off the part with fiber.
