Briefing on the Novel Coronavirus Pneumonia
(NCP) in China

Between 00:00 and 24:00, 8 February, the following were newly reported by the 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps:
a) 2,656 confirmed cases;
b) 87 severe cases;
c) 89 fatal cases;
d) 3,916 suspected cases;
e) 600 cases of patients cured and discharged from hospital; and
f) 31,124 cases of close contacts released from medical observation.
According to the National Health Commission, as of 24:00, 8 February, the following had been reported by the 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps:
a) 37,198 confirmed cases (1 reduced in Shanxi, Heilongjiang, Henan, and Hainan respectively after verification);
b) 33,738 confirmed cases under treatment (including 6,188 severe cases);
c) 2,649 cases of patients cured and discharged from hospital (1 reduced in Heilongjiang after verification);
d) 811 fatal cases; and
e) 28,942 suspected cases.
To date, 371,905 close contacts have been traced. Among them, 188,183 are still under medical observation.
Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan have altogether reported 53 confirmed cases:
a) 26 (including 1 fatal case) in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR);
b) 10 in the Macao SAR (including 1 case of patient cured and discharged from hospital); and
c) 17 in the Taiwan region (including 1 case of patient cured and discharged from hospital).

Between 12:00-24:00, 8 February, 2020, the following were newly reported by Chongqing:
a) 18 confirmed cases;
b) 4 severe cases;
c) 1 critical case; and
d) 8 cases of patients cured and discharged from hospital.
? Of the newly confirmed cases, 6 are in Wanzhou, 3 in Jiangbei, 3 in Changshou, 1 in Hechuan, 2 in Yongchuan, 1 in Tongliang, 1 in Dianjiang, and 1 in Wuxi;
? Of the newly reported severe cases, 1 is in Wanzhou, 1 in Hechuan, 1 in Tongnan, and 1 in Fengjie;
? 1 critical case was newly reported by Wanzhou;
? Of the newly reported cases of patients cured and discharged from hospital, 1 is in Wanzhou, 1 in Yuzhong, 1 in Jiulongpo, 1 in Liangping, 2 in Zhongxian, and 2 in Yunyang.
As of 24:00, 8 February, the following had been reported by Chongqing:
a) 446 confirmed cases;
b) 29 severe cases;
c) 20 critical cases;
d) 2 fatal cases; and
e) 39 cases of patients cured and discharged from hospital.
To date, 14,765 close contacts have been traced. Among them, 8,073 have been released from medical observation while 6,692 are still under observation.
