Experts teach you to sterilize correctly

What problems should citizens pay attention to when disinfecting at home? At the press conference on the prevention and control of the COVID-19 (novel coronavirus pneumonia) of Chongqing, Su Kun, an expert from Chongqing Center for Disease Control and Prevention and an epidemiological doctor, responded.

Disinfection is an important step of epidemic prevention and control, and it can stop the spread of the disease. But disinfection must be moderate and reasonable, not excessive. It should be ensured that disinfection does not cause harm to the body on the one hand, and does not cause long-term pollution risks to the environment on the other hand. Therefore, Su Kun made the following tips on household disinfection:

To recognize the rationality and necessity of disinfection

The most commonly used and cost-effective method for ordinary people is to ventilate and clean the air in the house, and regularly open the doors and windows for ventilation. In this way, even if there are pathogens, ventilation can reduce the concentration of pathogens in the indoor air, and the pathogens blown to the outdoor will soon die, so as to achieve the purpose of disinfection. For the patients with symptoms in the family, the family environment may be polluted, thus, other disinfection measures should be taken for the indoor environment.

Physical disinfection is preferred

To disinfect goods, do not use chemical disinfectants if you can use physical methods. For example, the high-temperature disinfection method in physical disinfection can be used. High-temperature disinfection can not only kill the COVID-19 virus, but also other microorganisms with strong resistance. Therefore, it is recommended to boil in boiling water for 10 minutes to disinfect tableware, towels and other high temperature resistant appliances.

Correct selection of chemical disinfectants and disinfection methods

If the home environment or goods are contaminated and it is really necessary to use chemical disinfectants, it is recommended to use disinfectants such as 84 disinfectant for disinfection. During the disinfection process, pay attention to storage and safety, especially alcohol at home. When wiping, pay attention to avoid causing fire, explosion, etc., or pay attention to the possibility of corrosion when using other disinfectants.

To strengthen hand hygiene

Su Kun also reminded to strengthen hand hygiene. People can wash hands with special disinfectants for hands, which is more safe to use multiple times a day. Especially when going home, wash your hands and disinfect them in time with special hand disinfectants.
