Song Gang, Deputy Director of the Municipal Commerce Commission Led a Team to Visit the Consulate General of the Italian Republic in Chongqing

In order to strengthen friendly exchanges and cooperation with Italy, enhance communication with the Consulate General of the Republic of Italy in Chongqing, play the role the Consulate as a bridge, and promote economic and trade exchanges, on the afternoon of October 27, with the assistance of the Chongqing Investment Promotion Association (CQIPA), Song Gang, Deputy Director of the Chongqing Municipal Commerce Commission (CCC), led a team to visit the Consulate General of the Italian Republic in Chongqing, and had an in-depth exchange with Consul General, Mr. Guido Bilancini and Mr. Lorenzo Gonzo, the Science and Technology Councilor, on deepening cooperation and exploring new ways of cooperation.

Mr. Song Gang thanked Consul General, Mr. Guido Bilancini for his thoughtful preparation and appreciated the positive contributions to promote economic and trade exchanges between the two places. He gave a detailed introduction to the Consulate on the functions and responsibilities of the CCC and the economic and social development of Chongqing. By taking the opportunities for the construction of “Chengdu-Chongqing Twin City Economic Circle” and “International Consumer Center City”, the CCC will strengthen economic and trade cooperation with the Consulate General, establish a business and economic cooperation mechanism, and enhance project cooperation through online and offline promotion activities. At the same time, Mr. Song Gang introduced the functions and responsibilities of CQIPA, expressing that CQIPA is willing to provide “one-stop services” for Italian companies investing in Chongqing.

Consul General Mr. Guido Bilancini welcomed Mr. Song Gang’s visit, thanked the CCC for its support and trust. He affirmed the basis of past and the extensive and specific cooperation between the two parties, and plan to organize an Italian business delegation to Chongqing.

From January to September 2021, the total trade volume between Chongqing and Italy was 4.457 billion yuan, an increase of 40.9%; Chongqing's non-financial direct investment in Italy was 16.74 million US dollars. With the continuous growth of trade and investment between the two sides, economic and trade exchanges have become increasingly close. The CCC will strengthen exchanges and interactions with the Consulate General, further deepen the trade and investment between the two places and carry out pragmatic cooperation.
