The Chongqing satellite city of Qijiang, is a key logistics and transport hub and a major factor in the region’s development. Its 2747 sq km are traversed by the new western land and sea corridor, home to 31 towns, and a resident population of 1.01 million.

It is a city with a long history and culture. It has been a prefecture and county for over 1,400 years, and the regional folk art prints for which it is known are part of the world’s intangible cultural heritage.

As a travel and leisure destination set in stunning scenery, it is known as the "back garden" of Chongqing and is a major local summer vacation destination. Major tourist sites include Gujian and Laoying mountains, the Qihe River and Hengshan Peak. It also has two nationally recognized tourism sites, the ancient town of Dongxi and the Dinosaur Footprint Fossil National Geological Park.

The area is well connected regionally and nationally via cutting edge transport infrastructure. The navigable Qijiang River, a major Yangtze tributary, runs north to south providing access to cargo and other vessels, while national motorways include the Yuzhizhou, Yuzhu, Qiwan and Jiangqi motorways and the G210 and S303 national and provincial highways, and rail routes include the Yuzhizhou and Sannan railways. The journey from Qijiang to Jiangbei International Airport is around one hour, giving it rapid national and international travel links.

Qijiang is home to a vibrant entrepreneur sector. The region’s high-tech development zone is booming, with the development of five major industrial clusters. Key industries within these include: equipment manufacturing, new materials, new-generation information technology, energy conservation and environmental protection, and the consumer goods industry especially within the field of health. There are also eight major industrial chains, including automobile and motorcycle parts and components, aluminum and copper materials, high-end composite materials, electronic information manufacturing, big data and information security - especially specializing in data disaster recovery, green food, energy conservation and environmental protection, and new construction materials prefabricated building. The region is also the base for Chongqing Yitong College, the Chongqing German Essen University and other higher education institutions.

Qijiang is currently aiming to build a comprehensive service area for Chongqing and Guizhou based on the new western land and sea corridor. It is also a key area for trialing joint Chongqing-Guizhou-led projects, as well as being a pilot zone for the upgrading of resource-based cities. It combines a city-wide advanced manufacturing base, with leading recreation and leisure sites and facilities as well as key Communist cultural aspects, all of which are transforming the region into an influential, competitive and dynamic resource for Chongqing’s economic and cultural growth.

Qijiang is a great place! We hope you will enjoy your stay!
