Wushan

Wushan New Town

Wushan County, covering 2,958 sqkm and home to 650,000 people, is located in the heart of the Three Gorges ecological barrier. It is known for "one clear river, green mountains on both banks, red leaves of the Three Gorges, and clouds and rain of four seasons".

The 2 million old remains known as Wushan Man, found in Longgupo, are believed by some to be an early hominid; the region was home to the neolithic Daxi culture around 5,000 years ago, and in more recent history is the subject of over 6,000 classic poems.

Wushan is a gateway for Chongqing's opening-up to the east. It is a comprehensive transportation hub incorporating airport, high-speed rail, the Yangtze River, various expressways, and a tourism transportation circle. This is expected to become a strategic node that connects north, south, east and west.

Wushan Airport operates flights from Wushan to Chongqing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Ningbo, Lijiang and other places.

In the first three quarters of 2023, Wushan County had a regional GDP of 17.085 billion CNY, a year-on-year increase of 6.3%.
